Essential Summer Jobs For Outside The Home

Whilst summer time is a time of outside fun, it’s also a time for outdoor jobs. Seems like there’s a never ending list of things that need to be done in your yard. And, many are tasks that have to be done again, over and over throughout the summer months.

You particularly have to work on your lawn consistently to keep it looking nice. If there’s been a harsh winter, there may be patches that need to be re-sown with grass seed. Using a quality fertilizer can help your grass grow thick and healthy. And, weed killers can give your grass a professional look.

Creating flower beds in your yard can increase the beauty of your home. But, they also produce places where weedeaters often can’t be put to use. Adding landscaping pebbles will reduce the time that you’ll need to spend weeding flowers. They can also add a professional look to the edge of your lawn and can be bought in numerous colors.

To protect your decking it should be given a thorough cleaning a minimum of one time every summer. Leaves that are stuck in cracks can remain dampand cause rot and should be removed. A pressure washer is the best way to completely remove any dirt that has gotten stuck. If the wood is worn, refinish the deck and add a moisture resistant coating.

While solar lighting fixtures are practically maintenance free, they do need to be cleaned. Any solar panels must be wiped down to assist them work at their optimum. And, you should remove the glass globes and clean them well to allow the light to shine through more clearly.

It’s a really good idea to check the exterior of your home for cracks or loose siding that will permit water to ingress and cause rotting. Siding that has begun to stain or mildew can often be cleaned with soapy water using brushes. But, for really bad stains you can purchase special cleaners.

If you are a swimming pool owner the water should be checked weekly. Keeping the chemical balance in the pool at the recommended level will keep the water free of bacteria and clean for your family. And, the heat of the summer will cause the bacteria and germs to incubate so don’t miss this task.

Keeping your yard tasks done on a regular schedule can actually save you time in the long run. There’re also many ways to eliminate some jobs, such as installing automatic sprinklers. And, the less work that you have to carry out, the more time you can spend doing your most loved summer activities.
